Born and Raised
BCD Roofing was founded in Utica, in the library while Bryan was still at Utica High School. Bryan attended Utica community Schools, starting at Magahay Elementary, and eventually on to Eppler Jr. High. Bryan is a proud Chieftain and baby Chieftain, and part of that is even in a Black and Orange version of our logo. We are proud of our heritage and the long history of Utica that goes back to the 1830s. We have worked on many of these historic homes, many built with old growth timber from the Upper Peninsula. The pine and white oak is so hard, one can hardly drive a nail through it. This is why shingles may not always be the best material for these homes.
The rest of Utica both in the West Utica area and where Baisleys used to be were built in the 1960s. Similar to problems in Sterling Heights, many of these houses are built with the first runs of plywood as it gradually replaced traditional 1×6 decking. Unfortunately after 60 years, it has begun to de-laminate. Many times this means that many times we need to completely resheet the roof! This sounds expensive, and while not cheap, usually adds only $240 per square, worth the investment for a roof that could last 50 years, or even longer!
In either case, we have our process down to a well oiled machine. We have a large crew of about 12 roofers that can do this entire process in less than a day, resheet and all. We arrive in the morning, set up our equipter, and by the time you get home, we should either be wrapping up or be done. This is hassle free. All of us have been roofing in this area for decades, and we know how to make this the last time you ever replace your roof.

Frequently Asked Questions About Our Roofing Services
How long should a roof last?
The lifespan of a roof depends on several things, but most of all who installed it. The worst shingle installed correctly will last longer than the best shingle installed wrong. If BCD puts a new roof on your home, you should expect 30, 40, or even 50 worry-free years.
How long does the replacement process take?
A standard size roof 30 squares and under should take about a day to complete, this includes tear off, replacement, and clean up. We have a larger crew but, If your roof is larger and requires a 2 day process, we will never tear off what we can’t replace that day. This means when we leave at the end of the first day, your roof is secure and water tight until we return to finish the project the following day.
What type of ventilation should I put on my house?
The type of ventilation on your roof depends on how it’s built. If it is on trusses you may be able to add a ridge vent, but some houses can have ridge vent and some can not. If you have an overhang on your roof you can put in soffits for inhale, but you still need an exhale in the form of can vents. You can not put a ridge vent on a HIP roof. Can vents must be used in this instance.
